Today we are makeing gingerbread houses. Last week we found the area of each ginger bread house.

Making ginger bread homes with Mayumi and Mino (Amena)

Image
It's the holliday season, and were making ginger bread houses! We did this last year, and we had so much fun, we had to do it again. So we were given two options of homes: Beginner and Advanced. The beginner was smaller, but you wouldn't have to do as much math figuring out the area and so on. The adavanced was bigger, and had extra parts like windows and doors. My dear mom didn't give us a choice, and we had to design an adavanced house. We made the desgin, and will be making the house itself today! stay tuned!! -Mayumi and Amena (even though Mayumi did all the typing and work)

in the first time it was hard for me then it was easy mom helped me to make the house and then it was good 🏫😊

Table Design

Image
Today my partner and I, (Foni ) made a table made from paper and cardbord. We twisted 3 peices of paper to creat each leg. A piece of cardbord served as the top. The table, The first book, The other book... Ahhhhhhhhh! Thankfully, the table lived! By Emi

Table making by Aya

Hi everyone!Today we made our paper tables. As you may know, we can have eight peices of paper, a peice of cardboard and tape. Rules: 1: the table must be eight inches long. 2: the table legs must be made out of paper. 3: it must carry a heavy book for five seconds and after that it has to hold an even heavier book and then both of them together. If your table works, you win! My mom gave us two extra peices of paper, so we made the table legs out af three peices of paper. We made three legs so we could have an even amount of paper. With the extra peice of paper, we stuffed it into the table legs. A few times we had to make imrovements, but in the end, it worked out. Some of the problems were buckling, and tilting. We solved these problems by stuffing the table legs with paper and stablizing the legs with more tape. Bye!
Image
Amena: Hey everyone! Today me and my best friend Mayumi tried to make a table that can hold a book of 650 pages. We could use only 3 things and they are: tape, 8 papers, and a piece of cardboard. The piece of cardboard should be the top of the table. Our fist attempt didn't work because the legs of the table weren't taped well, and they weren't properly rolled. The second attempt worked because we properly rolled the paper and taped the legs well, but the main thing that held the book is that the legs of the table were 3 papers not 2. here is a picture of our successful attempt:

The Tilting Table legs...By Mayumi

Image
This is what a table should look like: What Me and my Bestie's table looked like... So we had a challenge to build a table out of tape, 8 sheets of paper, and cardboard. The cardboard could only be used for the top, and the legs had to be at least 8 inches long. And, It had to support my Mom's "Arabic English Dictionary" which is about 2 pounds. If our precious table survived that trauma, our table would have to suffer the crushing weight of another one of my Mom's dictionaries. Which weighed easily twice the amount of the first book. Our table collapsed first book, due to our table legs not being taped on properly. The table tilted, then fell to the ground with with its legs awry, and torn from the cardboard. Poor table. Do you guys have a better idea for the design?

Paper table design

Image
Today's challenge is to make a design of a table, using a piece of cardboard, 8 pieces of paper, and tape. As I was drawing the design, I was trying to thing of a way to make the table stable enough to hold a (HEAVY) book. This Is what I came up with. Well, not really "came up" it's a pretty basic design, but it's the only thing I could think of.

Hello every one, today we tried to design a table that is made out of 3 things and they are: tape, 8 papers, and a piece of cardboard. so basically we have to make it 8 inches tall and it should be able to hold a heavy book. Here is a picture of my design: I am not so sure if it'll work , and wish Mr luck!

Hi every one! Today we made our paper table designs. We can use paper, tape, and cardboard. It has to be eight inches and needs to be able to hold a heavy book. By the way, you can only have one peice of cardboard and eight peices of paper. If you have any sugjestins for my design, please comment. bye! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

boats part one and two by Aya

Image
Part one: Hi everyone! Today we made our designs for boats. We have limited supplies for them. We have tape, straws, plastic wrap, and paper cups. We need to make a boat that will carry 20 washers and stay afloat. If any of you have suggestions, please write them in the comments below. Do you think it will sink or float? Can it hold 20 washers? Next week I will send the results. Please respond! Bye!😍🛥 Part two: So I strugled with keeping it bouyant stable and waterproof, but it was a fun expirence. i was the last to finish, and mine never really worked but it was okay. BYE!

The floating boat by Amina

Image
Today me and my friends tried to make a boat that floats on water with 20 washers on top of it. This was my fist attempt : my first attempt failed, because it wasn't stable enough. Here is a video of my boat falling:

Will the boat float? By Salma

Image
Will the boat float? Watch the video to find out! The challenge, was to balance 20 washers on a boat. But not any boat, we had to use limited supplies. The supplies where, 10 cups, 10 straws, tape, and plastic wrap.  This was my 3D design that I drew last week. I tried to make it as heavy and thick as possible. The heavier it is, the more force will push the boat up, which will make it more buoyant.  What do you think our next project will be? Stay tuned!

Boat Design by Emi

I got my boat to float first try!! I made sure that the hull of the boat was flater, more square to help with the stabilaty. The bottom was wraped with tape and plastik wrap to keep the inside dry. I made my boat heavier to increase the buoyancy. By Emi

today is GameDay I made a boat that floats in the water 💧 it's a challenge for me to make the boat work with 20 washers ⛵.

My very risky boat design. By Mayumi

Image
We are doing a 'build a boat project.' The boat is made of tape, straws, papercups, and plastic wrap. The goal is for the boat to withstand the weight of 20 coin like objects on water. My design is a cup cut in half, with straws taped to the bottom, the tape is also covering the holes in the straws to create little air pockets for the boat to float. I then add another layer on cup-cut-in-half, and tape it together, then cover the entire boat with plastic wrap to preserve the air pockets that may have formed. That's it! Will the many layers weigh down the boat enough for it to sink? What do you think? So it worked!!! It was bouyant, because of all the straws I used. Maybe not 100% stable, as I noticed it was starting to tilt near the end. I didnt tape the straws evenly on both sides of the boat, same with the second layer of cup, so maybe thats it. It was certainly waterproof, due to the layers of plastic wrap and tape that practically drowned me boat design.

Boat Design

Image
Today in Game Day we desind boats that we will make next time. The boats are bult with (up to) 10 paper cups, 10 plastic straws, some length of tape and plastic wrap. The boats must be able to carry 20 washers with out sinking. I wonder if mine will work? See you next time! Emi By Emi

JULY 4! By Aya

Hello everyone and happy 4th of July! 🎉😆 Today we made red white and blue ice cream with two methods. We learned lots!

Hand term ice-cream vs Machine term ice-cream

Image
Have you ever wondered, what's the difference between hand term ice-cream and machine term ice-cream? If you thought I was going to tell you the answer, you're wrong! lol 😄😆 but this is my hypothesis: I think the machine term ice-cream will be softer and sweeter because the machine will mix it better. The hand term ice-cream will be a little rougher, or less creamy than the machine term because as I said, the machine probably mixes better. I'll update y'all on the results when it's done (probably on this post's comments). By Salma :)

Patriotic Ice Cream!!!!!!

Happy Fourth Of July!! (Independence Day)                                         YAAAYYYY!!!!                                   ⛿⛿⛿⛿⛿⛿⛿⛿⛿⛿ To celebrate this momentous occasion, when Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence,  we have decided to make Ice cream, in our country's flag colors. Let's see how it turns out!

ice cream :-) by Aya

Hey Everyone! Today we made ice crean with out an actual ice cream maker. 4 ingredients: 1) milk 2) vanilla extract 3) cream!  4) sugar Thats it. But you need two plastic bags, a lot of ice, and rock salt. So, six ingredients. 😋 So we put the edible ingredients in a bag then sealed it. Then we took a big bag and put a little bit of ice on the bottom. Then we put salt on top and placed the little bag on top of it all. We then filled the rest of the big bag with ice around and on top of the little bag. Here comes the 7th "tool" in the recipe that I forgot to mention. So wrap the big bag in a towel and........ SHAAAAKE!  For about 15 mins. REASULT: mine did not turn solid. It stayed watery. :-( But EMI's worked. SO LUCKY! But it tasted good. So if you have an idea of Emi's worked and no one else's did. See ya!

Making ice-cream 🍨🍦

⚠️ WARNING: DON'T DO THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT SORE ARMS ⚠️ Just kidding lol 😂 Anyways, today we made ice-cream using only 4 ingredients!! The ingredients are: ☆ Cream  ☆ Full cream Milk  ☆ Vanilla  ☆ Sugar  ☆ Salt ☆ Ice  And that's it!! For prep, you need:  ☆ 2 plastic bags/ziplock bags (you want to have one bigger than other) ☆ towel Now, to actually MAKE the ice cream you put the Cream, Milk, Sugar, and Vanilla in the small bag. In the big bag put the ice and the salt. (Make sure that the bag is CLOSED, you don't want your ice cream to have salt in it!!). Then put the bag in a towel and and shake it for about 10 minutes. AND DONE!! 🍦   Enjoy!! By: Salma Ashraf

Making Ice Cream

Image
Today we made ice cream, with out a machine. My arms hurt from shaking the ice cream, and I have an Aerial Silks class later. My arms will be sore later, but it was totally worth it. The recipe said, '...shake the ice cream for only 5 minutes!' It took allot longer, but in the end they tasted really good! 😃 Sadly, only mine solidified correctly, I think I shook mine more. To explain ice creams history, ingredients, and all the other things would take an hour to type.😑😓😖 Soooooo, Im going to borrow Wikipedia's version. Ahem.     Ice cream (derived from earlier cream ice ) [1] is a sweetened frozen food typically eaten as a snack or dessert . It may be made from dairy milk or cream and is flavoured with a sweetener, either sugar or an alternative , and a spice , such as cocoa or vanilla , or with fruit such as strawberries or peaches . It can also be made by whisking a flavored cream base and liquid nitrogen together. Colorings are sometimes added, in add...

The Nobel Prizes. By Alfred Nobel. (actually it was written by Yumi, but he was the one who made the name, and the entire thing.)

I have always wanted to win a Nobel prize. specifically, the chemistry prize, as chemistry never ceases to fascinate me.  Old Alfred Nobel (1833-1896) had invented dynamite and became a very wealthy man. When he died, I'm sure there were a lot of greedy second removed relatives, and long lost cousins all clamouring for a share. But nooooooo. With his money, he set up the Nobel Prize. There are five. Physics Prize Chemistry Prize (Yay!)  Physiology or Medicine Prize Literature Prize Peace Prize I don't know why there Isn't a math prize, and I may never know. but here you have it: The Noble Prize.

This sim that I did today is called the gas intro. I don't know really how it really works but I just played around with it.

Pixels by Aya

Image
Hi!  And welcome to Game Day!  💙   Today I went on code.org and I watched a video about pixels. Now, I learned about pixels a pretty long time ago, but for those of you who are new, a pixel is: a smallest addressible element in a raster image, or the smallest addressible element in all points addressible diplay device; so it's the smallest contollable element of a picture represented on the screen.

purple crystals and their power!

Image
💎💎💎💎💎💎💎     I couldn't find any purple gems, so bear with me. Potassium permanganate is a nonorganic purple crystal made from I not know what, cause the Egyptian government doesn't exactly want this info out in the open. It's a common chemical compound, and it's used to treat several skin conditions. But don't eat it! It can cause a build-up of fluid in your lungs and is pretty dangerous. But on the bright side, let's take a look at all the good it does! Infected eczema (gross.) Open and blistering wounds. (even grosser.) Athletes' foot and impetigo. (grossest.) Here is a photo of the potassium permanganate. (thank goodness for spell check.) Thanks for reading! Bye!!

We have been learning how to type on a keyboard here at gameday! I'm trying to finish typing club this year. Today I saw a lesson that was about J.K. Rowling and I wanted to try it out! By Emi🥰

bunnies taking over the world!!!!!!!!!!

Image
Ok, that does sound kinda weird. At Phet Colorado, they have a sim that is all about bunnies! Or rather, bunny populations. They all grow up, have baby bunnies, and die. But you can control the amount and type of food, how many wolves, what color they should be, and so on. But if they have lots of food, and no wolves, they could take over the world!!! Dun dun dun... Evil bunny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sugar Cookies

Image
Have you herd of sugar cookies? Of course you have. Have you herd of tangram Geometric sugar cookie tiles? Probably not. I didn't until my Mom showed us how to make them. These, are perfect BEAUTIFUL cookies that I really want to make. Ours weren't nearly so perfect but they still were really nice. .                               Geometry (from the Ancient Greek : γεωμετρία ; geo- "earth", -metron "measurement") is, with arithmetic , one of the oldest branches of mathematics . It is concerned with properties of space that are related with distance, shape, size, and relative position of figures. [1] A mathematician who works in the field of geometry is called a geometer . Good bye!!   By Emi 💕 P.S This is the tile I made.

Islamic geometric patterns

Image
Today we learned how to draw Islamic geometric patterns. These patterns are always found in the mosque 🕌. The most common colours used in these patterns are blue, green, red, and gold. We used a ruler 📏  a pencil ✏  and a compass!! It was so much fun!!

Siwa!!!!!!

Image
We are back, and good as ever, with more than a few tales of our travels! This was one craaaaaaazy adventure, filled blue wraiths, (ladies clothed head to toe in black, no eyeholes!) Broken bikes, yucky hotels, and mermaid springs, and most of all, lots of rocks This is a week-long trip to first, 1. Marustaruh 2. Siwa 3. Alexandria At Marsuh Matruh we went to the beach. Then we were off to Siwa!!! the ancient city of Siwa! In the 1920s, this place was mostly destroyed by a 3-day long storm, so the people moved to more modern homes, and rebuilt this place with mud and salt. Literally! Then to my favorite part! The springs!!! We first visited the most beautiful, amazing, incredible spring ever! Iyin ill arayas! If you look closely, you can see a cave-like bottom with sharp rocky spires jutting up from the ground. This place remains me of an underwater cave! The next spring is Cleopatra's springs. legend has it she bathed there herself, and any woman who goes under comes back out mo...

building a sevice robot out of LEGOS by Aya (this was suposed to come out 14 days ago)

hello everybody! This is Aya. And welcome to gameday! We were tasked to build something  with a purpose out of Legos.   IS THAT HARD TO READ? I THINK IT IS. Okay. here we go. So we were tasked to build a LEGO robot thingy with a purpose. So I made a cool robot that moved it's arms and pick up trash.

Pi Day Two a week late (By Noelle)

Image
Two Weeks ago we celebrated Pi day. Which was a week early but we didn't think we would have game day on the real Pi day,  But we did so we celebrated it again cause why not?   Last week on Pi day we built the number Pie, or at least some of it.   Each number from 1 to 9 had a different color.  There is a website with 100,000 digits  of Pi.   For every digit we put a lego block that matched the color of the code.   It looked something like this, but not as uniform. And here is the website for the Pi digits (It is a LOT of digits) 100,000 Digits of Pi (uiuc.edu)

Ev3--Move Steering

Image
By Emi  The Move Steering programming block is used to make your robot drive forward, backward, turn, or stop, it also adjusts the steering to make your robot go straight, drive in arcs, make tight turns or spin turns. We didn't know that and we wanted to find out. We tested a bit and figured out that the smaller the number in the Steering block, the bigger the circle Eva made. The Move Steering block is a green action block from the EV3 visual programming environment and is used to control both left and right drive motors at the same time, to drive your vehicle in the direction that you select. In a typical EV3 differential drive robot design, the left motor is connected to motor port B and the right hand motor to motor port B on the EV3 programmable brick, as shown above.Good bye!

pi by Aya

Hello every body! We are all celebrating "pi day together" woohoo! so what is Pi? It is the realationship between the circumference and it's diameter so we made banana cream pie and quiche to celebrate!

Baking with Mayumi

Image
Back to baking with Mayumi... To celebrate pi day, we made pies, duh. Pie day is actually next week, but we won't be having game day that day, as we will have a campout the day before. We made a banana cream pie and a quiche. for those of you who don't know, Pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle and the diameter.
