The Tilting Table legs...By Mayumi

This is what a table should look like:
What Me and my Bestie's table looked like...
So we had a challenge to build a table out of tape, 8 sheets of paper, and cardboard. The cardboard could only be used for the top, and the legs had to be at least 8 inches long. And, It had to support my Mom's "Arabic English Dictionary" which is about 2 pounds. If our precious table survived that trauma, our table would have to suffer the crushing weight of another one of my Mom's dictionaries. Which weighed easily twice the amount of the first book. Our table collapsed first book, due to our table legs not being taped on properly. The table tilted, then fell to the ground with with its legs awry, and torn from the cardboard. Poor table. Do you guys have a better idea for the design?

  1. Hi Mayumi. I appreciate your detailed description, photo, AND invitation for critique. That is the sign of a true designer. I have an idea: other than little stools for milking, I don't typically see people sitting on 3-legged chairs and I have NEVER seen a 3-legged table that people actually use. Did you think of using a "brace" to support the table legs? Look it up and let me know what you think.

  2. I wonder if using 6 sheets of paper for the three legs, then the extra two as outer support legs would work? Makes me kind of want to try. Nice job, I especially like your creative description—love the use of the word “awry,” makes my teacher heart proud 😍😂
