MEL chemistry by Mayumi

Hi! This semester of gameday, we are picking a project/specialty, and seeing in through the semester. Like a College major, you can change it, but we are encouraged to stick with one, so as to get the full experience of the project. I have picked chemistry experiments, and my goal is to do one experiment per week. We have lots of MEL chemistry sets and some equipment, and they are highschool level experiments, with lab. My goal for next week is to do "calcuim silicate", and I'm not yet sure what it's about, but I can't wait to get started!

  1. Mayumi, I didn't know what "calcium silicate" was as well, but I looked it up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcium_silicate#:~:text=Calcium%20silicate%20is%20the%20chemical,naturally%20as%20the%20mineral%20larnite. Good luck with your first experiment!

  2. Chemistry sure is fascinating. Do you have any specific goals that you're working towards? Anything specific that you'd like to learn? Or a specific number of lessons or experiments to work through? Tell me more about your calcium silicate lab!

  3. A nice speciality, you'll definitely be if it from it a lot. Would you show us your experiments results or challenges? N how do you get your chemical substances?
